Kudumbasree State Proverty Eradication Mission is the implementing agency of NULM in Kerala

The ministry of Housing and Urban Proverty Alleviation (MHUPA) have been implementing a centrally sponsored scheme Swarna Jayanthi Shahari  Rorgar Yojana (SJSRY) since 1997 which has been restructured as Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban livelihood mission (DAY-NULM) since September 2013.

Kudumbasree State Proverty Eradication Mission is the implementing agency of NULM in Kerala.

Social Mobilization and Institution Development, Employment through skill training and placement, Self employment program, Shelter for urban homeless, Support to urban street vendors, Capacity building and training and innovative and special projects are the main objectives of NULM.

Jan Shikshan Sansthan Malappuram is the empanelled skill training provider (STP) of EST P which is the branch of NULM project.

Objectives

  1. To provide an asset to the urban poor  in the form of skills for sustainable livelihood. Apart from basic skills, training courses modules would include soft skills, financial literacy and information on other government schemes.

  2. To increase the income of urban poor through structured, market-oriented certified courses that can provide salaried employment and self employment opportunities which will eventually lead to better living standards on a sustainable basis.

Beneficiaries

  1. Urban youths are the beneficiaries of ESTP scheme

  2. The City Mission Management unit of NULM will mobilize students through Kudumbasree CDS and urban local body members

Success stories

I am Shahid,

My mother died when I was little. My father married another woman. My childhood was without love and care. My father also died while studying plus two. In the mean time I met Smt. Amina [Nilambur CDS chair person] and learned about JSS. Then I joined the 2 wheeler and 3 wheeler servicing course under the JSS-NUML scheme.

I studied very well and completed my course. After my studies, I got a job with Bajaj auto in Ernakulam.

I firmly believe that JSS is a turning point in my life
