Project Summary

DeenDayalUpadyayaGraminKaushalyaYojana (DDU-GKY). (DDU-GKY) is the skilling and placement initiative of the ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) Govt. of India. DDU- GKY has its origins in the Ajeevika skills programme and the special projects components of the Swarnajayanthi Gram Swarozgar Yojan (SGSY). The ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) announced the Deen Dayal Upadyaya Gramin Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) Andyodaya Diwas on 25th September 2014. DDUDKY is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) tasked with dual objectives of adding diversity to the income of rural poor and cater to the career aspirations of rural youth. DDU-GKY is uniquely focused on rural youth. DDU-GKY is the skilling programme with focus and priority towards building the capacity of the rural youth between the ages of 15 to 35 years and to address global skill requirements. DDU- GKY is a poverty alleviation initiative and proposes to make skill acquisition a necessity and aspirational amongst the rural youth.

Since its inception, JSS Malappuram has been working with Kudumbasree Mission. The association of DDU-GKY scheme is one of the most important steps of multifaceted activities of the organisation during 2017. It throws light to the new journey of empowering the deprived youth will skill training. A systematic process of implementation is very important in DDU-GKY and JSS, Malappuram also has been following operational procedures so the convergence with DDUGKY scheme under Kudumbasree Mission became stress free. The DDU-GKY projects suits the aspirations of JSS, Malappuram. Thus became the Project Implementing Agency of the same. JSS, Malappuram sends one official to attend the orientation program of National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, under MoRD, Govt. of India at Hyderabad soon after getting a Permanent Registration Number (PRN) for the application of DDUGKY. It lead to a decision for conducting a skill gap study for proposing a DDU-GKY project
